BASIC EDUCATION FOR ALL
The Challenge
Access to quality education in Malawi remains a significant hurdle. Overcrowded classrooms, a lack of learning materials, and under-resourced schools compromise learning. Vulnerable children, particularly girls, face enormous barriers like child marriage and labor, leading to high dropout rates.
OSSEDI's Strategic Response
Our strategy is to create inclusive, safe, and technologically advanced learning environments. OSSEDI Malawi dismantle barriers to education by integrating infrastructure development with innovative learning tools, strengthening school governance, and implementing robust child protection systems.
Flagship Projects and Demonstrated Impact
- Transformed Learning Outcomes through Technology, revolutionizing foundational literacy and numeracy skills by equipping 57 public primary schools with tablet-based personalized learning (under the Building Education Foundations through Innovation and Technology-BEFIT Programme).
- Ensured over 30,000+ children can learn in safe, inclusive, and properly equipped schools through the construction of new blocks, provision of materials, and teacher training.
- Secured the right to education for over 30,000 beneficiaries by establishing community-led committees that successfully withdrew children from child marriage and labor (-under the Advancement of a Girl Child Rights on basic Education-ACRE project )
